Icarus, is the fourth album by rapper BK’ (Abebe Bikila). Which has as its concept, the reinterpretation of the myth of Icarus. Greek mythology warned us about the danger of attraction to bright lights. Icarus, attracted by the sun, escaped the labyrinth, but flew so high that he burned his wings and fell from the sky. Two thousand years later, the myth repeats itself. The pursuit of power and success can take us to new heights, and the lights that burn at the top can also spell our undoing. We decided to retell this mythological story, but now set in current times. And to immortalize this updated version, we used the same means used in Ancient Greece to tell stories, but this time, with contemporary tools. The graphic project started from the point that connects Rio de Janeiro, the city where BK’ was born, to Ancient Greece.
We developed a Graphic Identity that unites the two worlds of the project, Urban Life and its sins with Ancient Greece, giving life to a proprietary, consistent language that talks directly to the public of BK’. Our Typography, Iconography, Art Direction and 3D retell the story of the myth, but this time the rise and fall is lived by BK’. All Graphic Assets seek to reframe codes, semblances and ancestral history, creating a contemporary perspective for a myth from 2000 years ago.
